JOB SUMMARY

Primary responsibility will involve 1) preparing and filing sales and use tax returns for over 130 registered state and local jurisdictions in the United States, 2) preparing and filing Canada’s GST / HST / QST monthly returns, and 3) compiling gross receipt and corresponding tax data for Australia and Japan to be sent to local accountants for reporting purposes.  Participate in the exempt certificate project, as necessary.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Responsible for preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns for US jurisdictions where Avid is registered.  Perform monthly reconciliations by comparing monthly SAP reports and Sovos reports. Ensure timely monthly return submissions and payment reconciliations.   Prepare and file Canada’s GST / HST / QST computations and filings.  Reconcile the GL accounts to Sovos and returns filed.  Compile Australia’s GST detail to create a workbook that is sent to an Australian tax accountant who files the monthly return.  A payment request is generated and once approved sent to AP to wire the funds to the Australian Tax Office. Pull together Japan’s current month’s detail to determines if the monthly return will be filed on actual transactions or on the prior year tax amount.  This report is sent to accountants in Japan to file.  A payment request is created and sent to AP to wire the monthly interim tax payment to the Japan Tax Agent so they can forward the funds to the Japan Government.  Support the Order Management team by providing tax guidance on orders being processed.  Work closely with Order Management as orders are created to determine if tax exempt certificates are required along with tax calculations. Assist in the clean-up and collection of customers’ tax-exempt certificates.  This project will entail reaching out to over 9,000 customers to obtain their updated tax-exempt certificates.  The certificates will then need to be uploaded into Sovos to migrate over to Avalara.

This role is responsible for a variety of sales and customer support activities by providing product and service information, resolving service inquiries and problems for internal and external customers. Key Areas of Accountability : 

Responsible for all facets of assigned account management including, but not limited to, order fulfillment, open order management, service issues and resolution, while acting as primary liaison between customers and other areas of business. Review and maintain open orders to quickly resolve delivery blocks, billing blocks, and incomplete order status, etc. Provide accurate documentation of all delays and changes made to an order. Ensure customer satisfaction by answering incoming/outbound calls and emails in a friendly, engaged and enthusiastic manner. Review and respond to all emails with professionalism, accurate information and timely follow up. Properly document customer interactions by recording details of inquiries, complaints, and comments as well as actions taken. Utilize all resources to resolve any issues or potential concerns regarding a customer, product or system. Obtain knowledge of businesses processes to resolve proactively and seek assistance from the leadership team as necessary. Understand and review Credits & Return Goods Authorizations, and Debits. Take note of concerns received from customers and liaise to Support Team or Specialists for resolution. Work with Distribution Centers, supply chain and sales as needed to manage customer expectations and ensure order fulfillment requirements are met. The IT Quality Assurance Engineer's role is to provide expertise in planning, designing, and executing test scripts that ensure the quality and functionality of any designed IT solution. • Help develop a testing strategy for the assigned functional squad

• Take the lead in executing test strategy 

• Help triage and manage defects/issues reported during testing activity
