The Instructional Designer will be focused on designing engaging and impactful training content that drives performance and results for our customers. Much of the content will be focused on sales, technical, and product enablement. Qualified candidates will be expected to have extensive knowledge of rapid curriculum development, instructional design best practices, adult learning styles, learning and development standards, and elearning approaches. This role requires someone who can deliver exceptional content rapidly. Candidates should be passionate about delivering innovative, micro-learning designs quickly. The person needs to be able to frequently iterate upon designs in accordance with customer requirements, while meeting aggressive deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Provide deliverables in a fast-paced environment with an ability to rapidly iterate
- Collaborate with clients, subject matter experts (SMEs), and internal stakeholders to identify learning objectives and content needs for courses and programs
- Design and develop engaging and interactive learning content, including e-learning modules, instructor-led training (ILT) materials, virtual instructor-led training (vILT) content, job aids, and technology
- Write clear, concise, and well-structured content that effectively communicates complex concepts to learners of varying levels of expertis
- Create prototypes and storyboards that effectively communicate design ideas
- Utilize instructional design principles and adult learning theories to create content that is pedagogically sound and aligned with the learning objectives
- Develop assessments and evaluations to measure the effectiveness of training programs and ensure alignment with client goals
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends, industry expertise, best practices, and emerging technologies in instructional design and content development
- Review and revise existing training materials to improve clarity, engagement, and instructional effectiveness.=
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality content that meets client expectations
- Provide guidance and support to clients and internal teams on best practices for content development and instructional design
- Manage a timeline of deliverables to a high quality standard
- Interact professionally with clients, asking questions, assessing current state, and recommending direction for learning strategies
- Identify learning outcomes, problems and pain points in order to devise elegant solutions
- Collaborate closely with product and technology team members both internally and externally to capture content
- Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate designs
- Make repeatable templates that can be adapted for various design needs
- Ensure consistency in designs, branding and content across all company platforms
- Native or Fluent English speaker
- 5 years experience in a similar role
- Fast-paced. Familiarity with Agile or Lean methodologies in instructional design, allowing for more iterative and collaborative content development.
- Experience with rapid prototyping and user testing to refine training materials.
- Open to feedback and constant iterations
- Understanding of UI/UX in web and mobile applications and their best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Communications, English or a related field
- Proven experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or content writing, preferably in a sales or technical enablement context
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex information and create clear, engaging content
- Experience with multimedia content creation, including video production and graphic design
- Proficiency in storyboarding using slides and documents
- Proficiency in video editing software and instructional design software and tools
- Proficiency in creative tools (such as Adobe Creative Cloud or Canva) to make visual mockups
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms
- Understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM)
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, SMEs, and internal teams
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Ideally having:
- Experience using newer AI-powered content creation tools
- Knowledge of data analytics and learning experience to better measure learning engagement, effectiveness, and ROI
- Advanced graphic design skills for independently creating visually appealing content
- A Master’s degree is a plus
- Additional certifications, such as Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP), eLearning Instructional Design Certificate, or similar credentials.
