Arch Investment Management Ltd. (AIML), based in Bermuda, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Arch Capital Group Ltd., a leading insurance and reinsurance company. Arch Capital has more than $13bn of capital and investable assets of more than $26bn. Arch Investment Management Ltd. is responsible for managing the portfolios of Arch Capital and its subsidiaries.
The successful candidate will be responsible for investment accounting and analysis of complex financial data as it relates to the Company’s investment portfolio. The role includes involvement with the monthly and quarterly investment accounting close, assisting with various reconciliations, investment accounting disclosures, and liaising with portfolio managers, custodians and other external third party service providers on an ongoing basis to ensure that investment accounting related matters are resolved on a timely basis.
- Primarily focused on the review of day to day analysis of large variances highlighting potential inaccurate trade bookings or accounting treatment, creating exception reports to identify potential data issues. Assist in the review of data integrity for the Clearwater accounting system
- Review journal entries for ARL and international entities investment portfolios (for example: Ireland, Syndicate, Gulf Re) on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Analysis of Derivative Variation Margin. Post and reconcile OPR, and mortgage mezzanine analysis and entries.
- Integral involvement in the review of processing for intercompany securities transactions and investment clearing on monthly basis.
- Assist in preparing and analysis monthly and quarterly investment accounting reports related to the investment portfolio as required by executive management, including financial reports, disclosures and MD&A’s in Forms 10-K and 10-Q and other SEC filings.
- Assist in enhancing the accounting, reporting and analysis functions surrounding the alternative investments and integration of new alternative investment platform both on GAAP and Statutory basis.
- Work closely with our internal auditors in monitoring and documentation of internal controls (SOX) and external auditors to provide timely and accurate information over financial reporting related to investment accounting
- Stay abreast of investment related reporting and compliance / regulatory changes that may impact the reporting process. Assist in the implementation of regulatory changes to reporting processes
- Participate in CGAAP and anticipated Somers Re integration. Review and work closely with investment accounting team on new Investment clearing tool in Clearwater.
- Review preparation of Statutory Accounting disclosures for Somers Re.
