Maintenance and Calibration

1. Performs troubleshooting and implements corrective action to immediately address emergency downtime, production delays and/or quality issues during the shift.
2. Implements maintenance works ensuring that the methods and materials applied are in accordance with the sound engineering and applicable standards.
3. Provides inputs and recommends action plans for the repairs and maintenance works.
4. Investigates root cause/s, implements and/or recommends cost-effective corrective action plans.
5. Performs calibration of all plant control and measuring equipment as maybe required ensuring that devices remain reliable and that these conform to applicable standards.

Condition-based Monitoring

1. Monitors operational performance efficiencies and performs analysis of problems encountered.
2. Performs vibration monitoring and/or thermal imaging as provided for in the preventive maintenance program.
3. Analyzes results, implements and/or recommends corrective/preventive action plan on the abnormalities and potential problems identified and communicates Supervisors and/or Manager for evaluation and approval of implementation.

Spare Parts Monitoring

1. Identifies and recommends action plans for the procurement of materials needed for the effective and on-time implementation of maintenance work.
2. Coordinates with the Maintenance Planners, Supervisors and Manager to ensure availability of materials.

Improvement Projects

1. Designs and performs cost estimates of improvement projects and submits to Supervisors and/or Manager for evaluation.
2. Implements improvement projects ensuring that these are in accordance with project specifications and applicable standards
3. Performs electrical/instrumentation installations ensuring safety and efficiency and that specifications are met.

Power System and Energy Management

1. Operates and tends the power generators as may be required during scheduled and unscheduled power interruptions.
2. Ensures that power is appropriately provided to critical processes and/or departments.
3. Monitors critical power system parameters, power factor, demand and energy of all critical process areas in the plant.

Other Tasks

1. Assures the accuracy and completeness of all drawings, files, engineering records, reports, prints, and tasks of assigned projects.
2. Learns and understands other processes through immersion and development training in other departments.
3. Actively participates in company programs and provides support at all times.
4. Establishes, maintains, recommends and implements a good housekeeping program for all areas of responsibility to ensure compliance to food safety standards set by GMP, HACCP & Halal.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Junior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a vital role in the design and development of cutting-edge marine projects. Your primary responsibility will be to undertake mechanical drawings (2D&3D) and perform calculations to ensure compliance with flag, classification societies, and technical specifications. Working with limited supervision, you will contribute to the creation of design packages that are fit for purpose and align with project schedules and budgets.

In this role, you will utilize your strong mechanical knowledge and design skills to meet vessel specifications and regulatory requirements. Your proficiency in Autocad, Navisworks, and other design software will enable you to create accurate and detailed mechanical drawings. Additionally, your excellent communication skills will be essential as you coordinate with design, production, and project teams.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Create detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings

• Generate accurate and comprehensive mechanical drawings using software such as AUTOCAD and Plant 3D/SHIPCON.

2. Perform mechanical calculations

• Conduct mechanical calculations to determine factors such as pipe flow, pump selection, and the performance of various mechanical equipment, including shafting and rudders.

3.  Prepare requisitions and provide technical support

• Collaborate with other team members to prepare requisitions for equipment, materials, and components needed for the projects.
• Provide technical support to the team and production staff, addressing design-related queries, clarifications, and troubleshooting issues that may arise during the construction phase.

4. Coordinate with Production and Supply Chain Management

• Work closely with these teams to ensure that the design specifications are effectively translated into the manufacturing process.
• Provide necessary inputs, address design-related challenges, and support the production team to ensure seamless integration between design and construction.

Essential:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or mechanical engineering technology.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in Aluminium or Steel shipbuilding projects.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and design skills to meet vessel specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Good understanding of classification society and flag rule requirements.
