The Software & Data Engineer III develops, implements, and maintains data & software solutions that enable business operations to realize company goals and objectives. Strategic Analytics is a dynamic, growing team at Arch.  The team develops innovative predictive models and analytical tools to improve profitability and growth.  This position will support the technical implementation of predictive models and analytical tools of the Strategic Analytics team.  The position requires strong Python and API experience, as well as user-facing application support experience.  The role is for an individual who is open to exploring and implementing new technology in Azure and Databricks, as the team is dynamic and the technology needs and requirements are fluid and will evolve over time.

• Develop and maintain Azure Functions and APIs
• Develop libraries using Python
• Develop real time data transformations, model variable creation, and orchestration activities to support the scoring process
• Use SQL, Python and Snowflake to explore and understand underlying data, and suggest improvements for performance and best practice
• Document technical workflows and implementation processes
• Create and maintain implementation testing scripts (unit and bulk)
• Collaborate with project stakeholders and other developers
• Code development and deployment using VS Code and GitHub
• Contribute and enforce evolving best standards and practices

The Data Engineer II develops, implements, and maintains software solutions that enable business operations to realize company goals & objectives. The incumbent performs analysis, design, coding, debugging, testing, and support of software applications. May be assigned to develop new applications/systems, enhance/upgrade existing systems or provide production support. He/she works independently on moderately complex projects, receiving only general direction. May provide assistance and direction to less experienced peers.

Essential RESPONSIBILITIES and ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Works with the Agile Program Manager (APM), Digital Product Manager (DPM), and Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to accurately capture stakeholder requests and system specifications and translate them into engineering artifacts, which typically include design specifications, source code, test scripts and test results.
2. As part of Agile teams, completes software development work which includes application design, coding, code review and testing. Keeps Agile team and APM apprised of project status.
3. Offers suggestions to stakeholders on devising effective and efficient approaches to achieve project and program objectives.
4. Manages engineering risks by proactively tracking and communicating issues, and devising methods to mitigating them.
5. Liaises with other project and program areas to coordinate interdependencies and resolve issues.
6. Supports business units in the resolution of in-depth user questions and issues following production support process and SLA’s.
7. Maintains a working knowledge of new technology and software engineering standards, practices and tools.
8. Provides input to APM/DPM in creation of Product Roadmap, High Level Estimates
9. Collaborates with IT management to define and develop documentation & engineering artifact standards, guidelines, processes, and templates

THE CHALLENGE:

• To ensure that trading-related customer queries are dealt with in a fast and efficient manner and to the highest possible standard.
• Liaising with traders across our global offices to ensure client queries are answered in a timely manner
• Build an in-depth knowledge of different team's responsibilities within the Trading Unit.
• Escalation of internal/external technical issues and following this throughout its life-cycle.
• Supporting the Daily Risk and Odds Management of our Trading Products.

YOUR PROFILE:

• Experience working in a Support or Customer Services background ideally within sports or betting industry
• Understanding of the global sports betting industry (preferable)
• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
• Ability to work under pressure
• Flexibility to work with shift-based patterns
• Proficient in all Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to take immediate action in a fast-moving trading environment
