Reporting to the SVP of Engineering, the Lead Backend Software Engineer will lead the design, development, and maintenance of our innovative direct to consumer insurance product.  You will have responsibility for both learning the current code base and architecture as well as continuing to innovate by building out additional new products.  Besides our consumer product, you will also own our Broker Portal, Compliance Platform, and our Open API, as well as supporting both Android and iOS Apps.

This is role where you should be comfortable making engineering and architectural decisions, helping to build out a team of backend developers, being both a mentor to junior programmers as well as a hands-on producer, and working closely with both Product and Front-end engineers.

As a Software Test Engineer for Avaloq, you will be creating and maintaining automated tests for the Avaloq Smart Client and APIs.
Your key tasks 

• Create and maintain test cases for the ABR/S baseline. Translate use case and test case documents into automated test cases. Fix or adapt the test cases if deemed necessary.
• Perform business as usual operations such as reporting bugs/problems that are discovered by the automated tests.
• Innovate and maintain the existing test frameworks.
• Career path directs to ownership of the automated testing framework and subject matter expertise on Avaloq banking modules.

The Software Engineer is responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of software solutions. The role includes working on Front-end and back-end systems. The main duties include understanding user requirements, translating them to Front/Back End code, developing database objects and APIs.

The candidate will provide analysis, design, coding, debugging, testing, and support of software applications.

1. Works with the Agile Program Manager (APM), Digital Product Manager (DPM), and Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to accurately capture stakeholder requests and system specifications and translate them into engineering artifacts, which typically include design specifications, source code, test scripts and test results.
2. Coordinates with software architects and Software engineer IVs to ensure that the engineering realization is in accordance with Enterprise Architecture principles and software development best practices.
3. As part of Agile teams, completes software development work which includes application design, coding, code review and testing. Keeps Agile team and APM apprised of project status.
4. Offers suggestions to stakeholders on devising effective and efficient approaches to achieve project and program objectives.
5. Manages engineering risks by proactively tracking and communicating issues and devising methods to mitigating them.
6. Liaises with other project and program areas to coordinate interdependencies and resolve issues.
7. Supports business units in the resolution of in-depth user questions and issues following production support process and SLA’s.
8. Maintains a working knowledge of new technology and software engineering standards, practices and tools.
9. Provides input to APM/DPM in creation of Product Roadmap, High Level Estimates
