OceanaGold are seeking a suitably qualified and reliable Boilermaker III (UG Equipment – Mobile) to perform welding and fabrication works according to specifications and specified tolerances and complete assigned tasks effectively and efficiently to sustain production equipment availability through environmental, healthy, and safe manners. The role will report to the Supervisor – Mechanical Maintenance (UG Mobile Equipment).
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Identify maintenance needs according to tool condition and manufacturer’s specification
- Sharpen striking tools such as chipping hammers, chisels, and center punches, and remove mushroomed heads from tools
- Check accuracy and calibrate layout measuring tools
- Check safety guards, cords, switches, connectors, hoses, and fluids in hydraulic tools
- Maintain stationary machines such as pedestal grinders and other rotating equipment to ensure safe operation
- Perform diagnosis of welding equipment problems such as inconsistent operation and poor weld quality
- Select access equipment such as scaffolding, ladders, and aerial work platforms according to job requirements
- Perform inspection and confirm safe operation of material handling equipment
- Performs welding using the Shield Metal arc welding process
- Troubleshoot SMAW equipment and process to determine the cause of weld default
- Perform cutting and Gouging tasks using the Oxy-fuel process
- Perform welding using Flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), metal-cored welding, gas metal arc welding (MCAW), and gas metal arc Welding
- Fabricate new or replacement parts for various Underground equipment
- Document daily maintenance tasks through work orders and PRONTO
- Suggests ways to prevent future equipment malfunction or improve equipment performance or safety
- Performs tool-keeping and housekeeping duties and takes accountability on issued and toolroom tools and equipment to ensure they are kept tidy, safe to use, and complete
