With 9 flour mills strategically located throughout Southeast Asia, they can provide just-in-time flour and malt deliveries to domestic markets as well as a wide range of export destinations.
Overall purpose and responsibilities of the role:
You will be primarily responsible in handling general accounting, month-end closing, bookkeeping, and in ensuring the accuracy of accounts payable transactions. You will also supervise 2 accounts payable associates.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the monthly closing of books in SAP and other financial/management platforms in use;
- Oversee, coordinate SAP operations relating to revenue recognition, fixed asset and depreciation management, account revaluation (e.g. forex, commodity MTM, etc.)
- Responsible for and involved in accounting and administrative tasks relating to the general ledger function, including, but not limited to the:
- Review of all batch-processed transactions to ensure proper processing is observed;
- Ensuring completeness, correctness, and approval of journal entries and the timely input of such entries into the ERP;
- Monitoring and following through on any open items requiring related entries in a subsequent month(s);
- Reviewing for completeness and reconcile subsidiary schedules against GL balances of accounts (e.g. accruals, pre-payments, deposits, receivables, payables, intercompany accounts, etc.) and coordinate with staff in charge or respective accounts;
- Generation of monthly Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement and other reports and schedules;
- In close coordination with the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, Cost Accounting and Treasury sections, coordination of a monthly variance analysis for Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss accounts;
- Arranging the month-end review of financial reports. Summarize (a) key points for the month, (b) open items for subsequent monitoring and resolution.
- Liaising with external and auditors, in terms of the (a) timely submission of audit schedules and requirements, and (b) following through on the implementation of recommendations relating to internal control compliance and related issues raised in audits;
- Maintenance and, when needed, improvement of the filing system for financial information, records and documents to ensure completeness and ease of retrieval.
- Relating to the compliance with tax requirements, including but not limited to:
- Preparation of periodic reports (i.e. VAT and other) and supporting schedules;
- Preparation of schedules, reports and other documentary requirements raised in tax, financial and other audits.
- Perform designated tasks in periodic finance and accounting processes, i.e. month-end and year-end close activities;
- Prepare schedules, analysis and other requirements as necessitated by audits and compliance mandates, e.g. financial, tax and other regulatory audits, regulatory filings, accrediting agency audits, customer audits, etc.;
- Provide back-up support, where needed, to ensure SAP activities are uninterrupted;
- Perform tasks as required to support the Finance Department and other tasks as may be assigned.
Must-have Skills / Qualifications:
We are looking for someone who has relevant finance and accounting experience working in a manufacturing environment. Ideally, with minimum of:
- 8-10 years of experience in Finance and/or accounting work;
- 2 years of experience in entity financial reporting and/or budget work in a manufacturing setting;
- 2 years of accounting supervision experience or similar capacity; and
- 2 years of SAP experience
Key Skills:
- Working knowledge of SAP. Similar knowledge of other ERP systems would be considered;
- Computer proficiency, particularly in the use of MS Office suite;
- Working knowledge of Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS);
- Working knowledge of Philippine tax laws, regulations and other issuance;
- Solid understanding of GAAP and IFRS in terms of definitions, requirements, practices, etc.;
- Keen understanding of and ability to manage internal controls;
Key Competencies:

- Strong analytical skills with penchant for accuracy, precision and clarity;

Other preferred trainings:
- PFRS and taxation updating seminars and the like, would be an advantage.
