The Safety Specialist is responsible for coordinating and implementing Occupational Safety and Health plans and programs of Pilmico. He/she inspect workplaces for adherence to regulations on safety, health, and the environment. He/she also develops programs to prevent harm or injury to workers and damage to the environment.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Identifies and evaluates hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace. Conducts on-site inspections to assess physical conditions and safe work practices. Implements immediate corrective actions appropriately.
- Develop controls for identified hazards and unsafe conditions. Measures and evaluates the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures and recommends changes if necessary.
- Reports, analyzes, interprets all incidents, or accidents and loss. Review injury and property damage reports. Prepares comprehensive recommendations for corrective action of an incident. Develops and implements recurrence prevention programs and procedures.
- Provides continuing education and oversight to all employees, business partners and other third parties to ensure consistent implementation of plans and programs.
- Directs industrial hygiene, occupational and general safety programs to ensure a safe environment and comply with safety standards.
- Facilitate compliance with occupational health and safety (OSH) guidelines. He/She will provide advice on measures to minimize hazards or unhealthy situations. He/She will also be on a constant lookout for violations.
- Implements fire prevention and protection programs and organize fire brigades to ensure maximum safety.
- Serves as Secretary to the health and safety committee; (prepares minutes of the meetings; report status of recommendations made; notify members of the meetings; and, submit to the management a report of the activities of the committee, including recommendations made
- Acts in an advisory capacity on all matters pertaining to safety for the guidance of the management and the workers
- Acts as Driver Trainer and Defensive Driving assessor in support of Driver Safety program of the company
- Conducts investigation of accidents and submit his separate report and analysis of accidents to the management
- Conducts safety inspections on a daily basis and recommend/suggest corrective actions
- Conducts risk assessment processes such as Hazard Identification Risk Assessment and Control (HIRAC) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
- Maintains or help in the maintenance of an efficient accident record system and coordinates actions taken by supervisors to eliminate accident causes
- Provides assistance to the government agencies in the conduct of safety inspection, accident investigation and any other related programs
- Coordinates with different departments in communicating the safety performance, compliance and policies of the company
- Adhere and support the strict implementation of ASF protocols.
- Support Farms in the execution of self-managed Safety activities and audits
- Performs other duties as assigned.
