This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, DAYSHIFT
This is an office-based position in Balamban, Cebu, the shipping capital of the Philippines.
The expected start date is March 2024.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Naval Architect, you take on a leadership role in shaping the design and development of ferry/ship projects. You will be responsible for overseeing naval architecture and structural calculations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications. Your technical expertise and problem-solving skills will be crucial in delivering high-quality design deliverables. Additionally, you will provide technical support to the Structural Design Team, supervise a team of designers, and collaborate with various departments to ensure project success. This is an opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects and further develop your skills and expertise.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take full ownership of the naval architecture and structural calculations, ensuring adherence to flag regulations, classification societies' guidelines, and technical specifications. Your expertise will contribute to meeting project schedules and staying within allocated design budgets.
- Independently perform design tasks and calculations, leveraging your proficiency in naval architecture principles. Your ability to effectively solve problems and make sound design decisions will be instrumental in delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Generate comprehensive and detailed design deliverables, including accurate drawings, reports, and relevant structural documentation. Your work will communicate design concepts effectively and contribute to the seamless progression of the project.
- Provide exceptional technical support to the Structural Design Team, fabrication personnel, and the supply chain. Your collaboration and expertise will facilitate effective communication, coordination, and execution of the project, ensuring the smooth flow of operations.
- Supervise and guide structural designers and draftspersons as needed. Your role in overseeing their work will ensure accuracy, adherence to design standards, and the achievement of project objectives.
- Coordinate closely with the design team, production department, project management personnel, and the supply chain. Your ability to foster effective collaboration and communication will enable smooth project processes, mitigate potential bottlenecks, and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Essential:
- Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in ship design/shipbuilding.
- Strong technical skills and the ability to problem solve.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, and preferably STRAND (or other Finite Element Analysis package) and Maxsurf.
- Experience in supervising teams.
Desirable:
- Licensed Philippine Naval Architect and Marine Engineer.
- Experience in aluminum shipbuilding.
- Familiarity with 3D SHIP CAD software (SHIPCON).
- Proficiency in other 3D modeling software.
