URGENT! Tax Compliance Specialist

The Tax Compliance Specialist is responsible for carrying out a range of tax and compliance functions, meticulously adhering to government regulations and aligning with company policies and procedures. The primary objective of these activities is to guarantee the timely completion of tasks related to taxation and compliance matters. This role involves a thorough understanding of applicable regulations, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding organizational policies, all aimed at ensuring that tax-related responsibilities are executed efficiently and in compliance with the established timelines.

A. LOCAL AND NATIONAL TAX APPLICATION AND PAYMENTS

  • Prepare and ensure the timely filing and e-payment of BIR Returns.
  • Prepare the sales allocation for business permit renewals. This involves conducting a reconciliation of declared sales with sales recorded in the company's books.
  • Review the computation of Local Business Tax due.
  • Prepare, review, and file advance VAT on milling wheat.
  • Prepare and file applications for BIR Permits, including, but not limited to, authority to print and permit to use loose-leaf, certificate of deductibility for obsolete inventories and others
  • File applications for Branch Registration and Information Update (e.g., new line of business or change of business address).

B. TAX AUDIT

  • Provide audit requirements, schedules, and reconciliations requested by the BIR or Local Tax Authority.
  • Maintain close coordination with assessors to ensure the closure of the audit.
  • Prepare replies to Letter Notices. 
  • Provide requirements, schedules, and reconciliations for regular internal tax reviews. Coordinate with auditors and ensure compliance with their recommendations for procedural improvements.

C. PROCESSES AND IMPROVEMENTS

  • In the case of innovative projects, communicate with the BIR, LGUs, and other relevant government agencies in coordination with the AEV TACS Team.
  • Research and analyze local and national tax laws applicable to the company’s business nature.
  • Regularly update on memoranda and issuances issued by the BIR for new Tax Rules and Regulations. Conduct a study on the impact/applicability of new issuances to the company.
  • Prepare guidelines for compliance with Tax Rules and Regulations.
  • Evaluate and assess tax issues.
  • Assist in strategizing and planning for tax savings for the company.
  • Secure opinions of AEV TACS and provide feedback on tax queries from other departments/partners.
  • Continuously update learnings by attending seminars or conventions pertaining to tax updates and other self-development training.
  • Provide tax awareness through tax cascades. D. Other Tasks:
  • In Charge of safekeeping of BIR documents and uploading of returns and reports in the Storage and Retention System
  • Performs other tasks as may be assigned by the team leader.
