Seeking a suitably, qualified, and reliable Engineer-Ventilation (Infrastructure) with mine ventilation experience who will be responsible for the development and implementation of ventilation designs, plans, and infrastructure systems to support safe mine production. The role will report to the Senior Engineer-Mining (Ventilation).
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Conducts regular air quality testing and monitoring, including dust, gases, and particulate matter, to assess ventilation effectiveness and ensure worker safety
- Inspects ventilation infrastructure, including fans, ducts, and controls, to identify maintenance needs, optimize airflow distribution, and minimize energy consumption
- Collaborates with safety and health teams to develop ventilation improvement plans and implement corrective actions based on monitoring results and observations
- Utilizes CAD software to develop detailed ventilation system designs, including ducting, fans, regulators, and controls, based on mining layouts and ventilation requirements
- Conduct ventilation simulations and airflow modelling to evaluate the effectiveness of the designed systems and identify potential improvements
- Collaborates with stakeholders, including ventilation engineers, safety personnel, and mine planners, to review and refine ventilation designs for optimal performance. Prepare vent reports, statutory requirements, and other vent-related requests of the MGB
- Contributes to design and implementation of mine infrastructure projects for fluid reticulation around this the mine. This will include, air (ventilation), pastefill and water management
- Audit ventilation equipment/consumables and coordinate with the procurement team(s) as required
- Ensure proper documentation and calibration of all ventilation instruments and analyse airflow disruption and suggest improvements
