The Safety Officer/Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of employee safety in the workplace, ensuring the company complies with relevant health and safety regulations, including OSHA guidelines and client requirements. The role focuses on enforcing strict HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) programs across all construction projects and sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Program Management:
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs and strategies.
- Ensure adherence to Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) policies and applicable client requirements.
- Regularly review all aspects of safety procedures and hazard control measures to maintain a safe work environment.
Risk Assessment & Hazard Control:
- Partner with operations and field management to identify, assess, and mitigate any potential safety or health hazards related to equipment, materials, and production processes.
- Conduct routine safety inspections at job sites and perform comprehensive risk assessments.
- Investigate injuries, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending improvements to safety standards.
- Manage return-to-work processes for injured employees.
Safety Training & Employee Support:
- Deliver training and consultation programs on workplace safety and environmental protection for both construction employers and employees.
- Advise employees on various safety-related topics, fostering a culture of safety throughout the company.
Incident Reporting & Data Management:
- Prepare and submit reports on incidents, including providing statistical analysis for management review.
- Ensure all required safety documents, forms, and records are accurately completed, securely stored, and easily retrievable for audits or safety reviews.
Compliance Monitoring:
- Oversee the conduct of safety toolbox and supervisor meetings, ensuring they are effective and compliant with safety standards.
- Monitor the implementation of corrective actions and evaluate their effectiveness in addressing safety audit findings.
Emergency Response & Preparedness:
- Organize and participate in emergency drills, ensuring all events are properly documented and evaluated for compliance with HSE audits.
- Facilitate post-drill debriefings and recommend improvements for emergency preparedness.
Communication & Coordination:
- Maintain clear communication with external entities on safety matters, ensuring that all safety-related issues are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with field management to ensure timely execution of corrective measures identified during safety inspections.
