Job Title: Chief Risk Integrity & Governance Officer

Location: Kuala Lumpur

Reports To: Board of Directors / CEO

Job Description:

As the Chief Risk Integrity & Governance Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing and developing strategies that mitigate risks across the organization while ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory frameworks. You will drive risk management, operational governance, and integrity initiatives, ensuring business continuity and aligning the company with long-term sustainability and growth objectives. Your primary role will include analyzing risk in financing proposals, monitoring risk portfolios, and ensuring sound governance across all operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Risk Analysis & Assessment:
    • Review risk analysis and assessments conducted by team members for business financing proposals.
    • Provide recommendations to mitigate key risks highlighted in each financing/loan proposal.
  2. Risk Communication & Decision Support:
    • Evaluate the impact of identified risks from financing structures and report findings to management and, if necessary, the Board.
    • Support management and the Board in decision-making by offering insights into risk mitigation strategies.
  3. Loan Portfolio Management:
    • Monitor and develop strategies for managing the financing/loan portfolio.
    • Advise management and the Board on mitigating future risks to reduce non-performing loans, providing insights on current exposures and outstanding financing.
  4. Watchlist Review & Intervention:
    • Chair the Watchlist meeting to assess accounts with early warning stress signals and recommend corrective actions.
  5. Risk Assessment Methodology:
    • Develop risk assessment and credit evaluation methodologies to align with company objectives.
  6. Post-Approval Reviews:
    • Oversee post-approval credit reviews (PACR), post-disbursement reviews (PDR), and postmortem reviews (PMR) to ensure accurate reporting and analysis before approval presentations.
  7. Compliance Strategy:
    • Develop and implement strategies to ensure all compliance requirements are met across the organization.
  8. Market Condition Analysis:
    • Evaluate domestic and global market conditions and their impact on business opportunities, cautioning management on potential risks.
  9. Asset and Liability Management:
    • Provide opinions on the company’s asset and liability management and liquidity positions, recommending improvements to management.
  10. Operational Efficiency & Team Leadership:
    • Provide continuous motivation and development for employees to maintain a high-performance culture.
    • Inculcate a positive work attitude and develop future talent.
  11. Operational Risk Management:
    • Analyze operational risk issues, develop policies and procedures, and ensure updates are tracked and implemented promptly.
  12. Risk Monitoring & Reporting:
    • Monitor key risk indicators, following up with department heads to mitigate risks related to people, processes, systems, or external factors.
    • Submit risk reports with recommendations to the Risk Management Committee and Board on a quarterly basis.
  13. Shariah Compliance & Review:
    • Review policies to ensure internal Shariah control, ensuring compliance across business operations.
    • Ensure all activities align with Shariah laws and prevent non-compliance.
  14. Policy & Procedure Review:
    • Evaluate and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on management or regulatory changes.
  15. Business Continuity Planning:
    • Develop and lead a business continuity plan, assessing potential catastrophes and minimizing downtime.
    • Prepare recovery plans to ensure business continuity in the event of major incidents.
  16. Division Planning & Governance:
    • Prepare the annual business plan for the risk management division.
    • Develop and monitor the integrity and governance plan in alignment with authority requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Islamic Finance, or equivalent.
  • CeIO (Certified Integrity Officer) certification from Malaysia Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in risk management, preferably within banking or financial services.
  • Strong background in business credit and portfolio risk management.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a proven track record in risk management and governance.
  • Competitive remuneration package.
