About the role
OceanaGold are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Senior Engineer – Project Execution for a fixed term employment (2 years) who will be responsible in the execution and delivery of various projects planned to sustain mining operations and various external projects are completed safely, within an approved budget, and time frame. The role will assist the Section Superintendent in all areas of responsibilities within the section for the Business Services Department. The role will report to the Superintendent – Project Execution.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Adherence to OGPI procedures on Health and Safety having a strong commitment to ensuring safe project execution.
- Adherence to OGPI Contractor Management Procedures.
- Develop, manage, and lead a team of field engineers.
- Provide oversight and administration to all projects being undertaken for the mining operations and community projects, this will include basic community infrastructure to major complex builds.
- Ensure all approved project construction plans are executed in accordance with specifications, schedule and budget requirements.
- Develop construction methodologies to ensure seamless execution, efficiency, provide scheduling opportunities, and properly manage risks involved in achieving target deliverables.
- Facilitate contingency measures for catch up opportunities to be able to complete projects within a specified schedule.
- Establish and maintain engineering systems, appropriate checks and balances are in place to ensure procedural compliance and accuracy; and put in place appropriate communication tools to mitigate the risk of miscommunication, re-work, and loss.
- Maintain records of all projects under execution, providing an up-to-date database for management review.
- Monitor the reporting of workplace incidents and hazards to ensure effective risk mitigation is maintained.
- Assist in the formulation and reviews of the document control system to ensure that applicability and effectiveness is achieved and that the quality is aligned with the OGC’s document control standard
- Timely generation of shift and weekly reports, contractor’s equipment and manpower timesheet verification, variation reports, and;
- Work with other departmental personnel, area owners, and end users to deliver the projects to everyone’s satisfaction.
