Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing key accounting functions including account reconciliation, journal entries, accounts payable management, and the use of the Divvy expense management system. This role requires a strong understanding of financial reporting, intermediate to advanced Excel skills, and experience with NetSuite. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about supporting the company's growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Account Reconciliation:
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations for various accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in accounts and recommend improvements to enhance financial accuracy.
- Journal Entries:
- Prepare and post accurate journal entries for general ledger accounts, ensuring all entries are recorded in accordance with company policies.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Accounts Payable Management:
- Oversee the accounts payable process, including reviewing and processing invoices, ensuring proper approval, and timely payment.
- Maintain vendor relationships, ensuring inquiries and issues are addressed promptly.
- Prepare and reconcile AP aging reports to ensure accurate reporting of liabilities.
- Divvy Expense Management:
- Manage the Divvy expense management system, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and aligned with budget categories.
- Monitor and track employee spending, ensuring compliance with company policies and reconciliation of accounts.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Assist in the preparation of internal financial reports, providing insights and analysis to support business decision-making.
- Provide data for monthly variance analysis, identifying trends and discrepancies.
- Collaboration & Process Improvement:
- Work closely with the accounting team to identify opportunities for process improvements and streamline accounting workflows.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior accounting staff as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 1-2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
- Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP system.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or working towards CPA certification.
- Experience working in a fast-paced or high-growth company.
- Experience with Divvy or other corporate expense management tools.
- Familiarity with e-commerce or retail industry accounting practices.
