A Level Design Intern is a great start for aspiring designers to get practical development experience.
They support our Level Designers in their day-to-day tasks by creating game objects, level blockouts, and scripting gameplay events. The Level Design Intern is also responsible for using our proprietary tools to support the Art and QA teams by ensuring our gameplay objects are compliant with the game’s technical constraints.
The main tasks of the Level Design Intern are to:
- Internalize design documents to understand how your level fits into the overall game experience based on the vision set by our Directors and Leads
- Create design documentation for game environments and player activities
- Collaborate and meet with other job disciplines to ensure that the gameplay, technical, and artistic elements in your level are cohesive
- Create and/or model 3D design blockout objects for the team
- Create the geometry of a game location while using modular design principles
- Create gameplay events or interactive elements in the game location using visual scripting
- Playtest levels regularly and proactively gather feedback on your level to improve the player experience
- Proactively report bugs or design issues and participate in their resolution
- Provide regular updates to your Design Lead on your deliverables
- Carry out all other project-related tasks
