Assignment: Night Shift

We are looking for a dynamic and engaging Senior Accountant for an opportunity to join an industry-leading Property & Casualty insurance carrier focused on partnering with Reinsurers, MGAs/Program Administrators, and Insurtechs.

In addition to the day-to-day coordination of activities related to internal and external functions supporting the finance department this position is also responsible for but are not limited to the following:

• Prepare monthly program journal entries for the direct and ceded business
• On a monthly basis reconcile cash to each program’s premium bordereaux
• Prepare quarterly and annual Statutory statements, footnotes, and schedules
• Assist Compliance in quarterly and annual data calls
• Assist and provide support with annual external audit
• Identify and improve efficiencies with the monthly close
• Support & assist in the implementation of a data feed into the general ledger to expedite monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
• Build reports for quarterly and annual statutory reporting
• Work closely with Claims manager to ensure TPA’s are funded timely
• Assist in preparing slides for the Board and Audit committee meetings
• Assist on various adhoc projects
• Work collaboratively with reinsurance, actuarial and program managers to resolve reconciling items
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities: 

• Ensure that the company complies with local statutory and regulatory requirements of BIR, SEC, PEZA, BOI, LGU. 

• Main point person during compliance audit with BIR and LGU. 

• Conduct or direct the internal investigation of compliance issues. 

• Helps maintain records of all financial transactions ensuring accuracy and completeness. 

• Consult with corporate legal counsel as necessary to address difficult legal compliance issues. 

• Collaborate with Human Resources, Payroll, Legal, Finance and other departments to ensure the consistent implementation of compliance practices. 

• Liaise with government agencies for compliance completion. 

• Ensure that company’s policy and procedure is align with to-date regulations. 

The Finance Analyst will prepare workpapers, journal entries, and reconciliations for selected programs. The senior accountant will have ownership over the economics for their select programs ensuring accuracy.

The finance analyst is responsible for collection, organization, interpretation, analysis, recording, documentation and dissemination of of simple to mid-complex financial data sets. The candidate will process and reconcile bank, accounts receivable, payables and general ledger related transactions with a strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, customer service and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will provide support and be part of the UK Finance team and will report to the Bank Reconciliation and Accounts Payable manager in London.

• Reconcile weekly bank reconciliations for different currency bank accounts within Arch Insurance Europe including Arch Syndicate
• Input, record, process, balance and maintain receipts for Arch Insurance Europe companies.
• Prepare reinsurance reconciliation.
• Assist in quarter close process and annual audit.
• Work closely with the Credit Control department in respect of identifying receipts especially non-bureau receipts.
• Ensure accurate recording and maintenance of accounting transactions.
• Liaise with internal teams to investigate and analyze regarding any receipt queries and ensure timely clearing down of suspense/control clearing cash accounts.
• Execute daily operational activity and document management.
• Perform financial analysis, reconciliation and generate key reports.
• Perform daily validation processes to ensure accuracy and compliance .
• Perform simple to mid-complex financial analysis, reconciliations, generate reports.

Junior Finance analyst is responsible for collection, organization, interpretation, analysis, scrubbing, documentation and dissemination of complex data sets.

It is key to be flexible as the tasks may change and be added to. It will be key to contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes and it will be expected that the analyst will bring ideas to the Arch team by utilizing their expertise or previous experience.

• Process bureau settlement into IRIS and process cash allocation.
• Create front sheets and process cash allocation for non-bureau premium .
• Join special projects within Finance to be cross-functional
• Communicate directly with Underwriters and Brokers for complex accounts.

The Software Engineer is responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of software solutions. The role includes working on Front-end and back-end systems. The main duties include understanding user requirements, translating them to Front/Back End code, developing database objects and APIs.

The candidate will provide analysis, design, coding, debugging, testing, and support of software applications.

1. Works with the Agile Program Manager (APM), Digital Product Manager (DPM), and Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to accurately capture stakeholder requests and system specifications and translate them into engineering artifacts, which typically include design specifications, source code, test scripts and test results.
2. Coordinates with software architects and Software engineer IVs to ensure that the engineering realization is in accordance with Enterprise Architecture principles and software development best practices.
3. As part of Agile teams, completes software development work which includes application design, coding, code review and testing. Keeps Agile team and APM apprised of project status.
4. Offers suggestions to stakeholders on devising effective and efficient approaches to achieve project and program objectives.
5. Manages engineering risks by proactively tracking and communicating issues and devising methods to mitigating them.
6. Liaises with other project and program areas to coordinate interdependencies and resolve issues.
7. Supports business units in the resolution of in-depth user questions and issues following production support process and SLA’s.
8. Maintains a working knowledge of new technology and software engineering standards, practices and tools.
9. Provides input to APM/DPM in creation of Product Roadmap, High Level Estimates

Collaborates with IT management to define and develop documentation & engineering artifact standards, guidelines, processes, and templates

• Maintain the general ledger activity for multiple corporate companies, which includes recording operating expenses, preparing accruals, and validating GL coding for Accounts Payable postings.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet and expense account analyses including detailed reviews of expenses and ensuring appropriate accruals are recorded.
• Assisting with the preparation of monthly and quarterly operating expenses variance analysis for multiple periods and provide concise insightful commentary.
• Analyze and explain quarterly balance sheet movements.
• Analyze quarterly operating expenses for 35+ cost centers, including how those costs get allocated to affiliates.
• Participate in the quarterly preparation and distribution of intercompany invoices to affiliate subsidiaries. Work with operating entity customers to explain the charges, including variances over periods.
• Support the delivery of accurate and timely services and reporting to affiliate client companies.
• Work on special projects including inactivating GL accounts, fixed asset subledger projects not limited to retiring fixed assets with zero book value, etc.
• Track legal, audit and other expenses.
• Maintains accounting controls by following policies and procedures, updating documentation as needed.

This position will be best suited for someone with experience with Touchstone and financial terminology, cleaning raw data, detail oriented and with good organizational skills.

Specific Responsibilities

• Process and analyze natural catastrophe risk information presented and carry out risk analysis of submissions including data quality analysis
• Work closely with the underwriters to provide findings from output
• Adding value to the underwriting process by providing insights into the modelled output and reliability of the results
• Ensure complete information is maintained in the internal system provide support for the design and testing of new tools
• Assist in shaping analytical capabilities (hardware and software, using in-house software and model development)
• Use SQL queries to retrieve and update modelling information as required
• Any other duties as required, also experience in Cargo, Power, Utility, or Construction classes would be helpful.
