OVERVIEW:

The Finance Manager is mainly responsible for ensuring effective accounting procedures and for providing accurate financial information of all company transactions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

About the Role

As a Marketplace Content Associate, you will report directly to the Trust & Safety Associate Manager. You will perform content moderation in all areas related to Trust and Safety across all countries where Carousell operates. You will act as a generalist who will perform actions to support the content integrity of the platform, with internal and external user experience in mind. This is a full-time project-based third-party agency (12 months) role based in Ortigas, Pasig, Metro Manila, Philippines.

You will:

• Perform manual moderation functions for incoming listings / users  from different sources of report.
• Ensure listings and users in our platform are compliant to our policies.
• Identify and act on suspicious or undesirable content or behavior in our platform.
• Perform moderation functions using different tools.
• Identify areas of improvement and suggest solutions to enhance User experience to keep the marketplace safe.
• Respond to tickets in relation to fraud, disputes, account enforcement, and authority requests.
• Respond to escalation from different channels in the organization

• Maintain the general ledger activity for multiple corporate companies, which includes recording operating expenses, preparing accruals, and validating GL coding for Accounts Payable postings.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet and expense account analyses including detailed reviews of expenses and ensuring appropriate accruals are recorded.
• Assisting with the preparation of monthly and quarterly operating expenses variance analysis for multiple periods and provide concise insightful commentary.
• Analyze and explain quarterly balance sheet movements.
• Analyze quarterly operating expenses for 35+ cost centers, including how those costs get allocated to affiliates.
• Participate in the quarterly preparation and distribution of intercompany invoices to affiliate subsidiaries. Work with operating entity customers to explain the charges, including variances over periods.
• Support the delivery of accurate and timely services and reporting to affiliate client companies.
• Work on special projects including inactivating GL accounts, fixed asset subledger projects not limited to retiring fixed assets with zero book value, etc.
• Track legal, audit and other expenses.
• Maintains accounting controls by following policies and procedures, updating documentation as needed.

The Market Escalation and Trust Senior Associate plays a vital role in the organization. He/She is responsible for co-developing and implementing strategies to prevent and mitigate fraud in all Carousell Markets and will serve as in-market point of contact for the country they are situated in. In addition, the MX Content Senior Associate will report to the T&S Associate Manager and will work together with the MX team, primarily with the Core T&S team.

Day-to-day responsibilities 

• 30% of the week: Stay up to date with local regulations and applying it to Carousell based on the country of origin, updating our policy and processes based on escalations
• 60% of the week: Research fraud trends, issue (tech/non-tech) trends and to share findings with operations/tech to reduce incidents of fraud
• 10% of the week: team meetings, preparing for the meetings (share issue/fraud trends)

Responsibilities include:

• Be an expert on Carousell’s policies, community guidelines and listing rules
• Minimize and prevent potential loses in relation to our In-App payment feature and all other types of Fraud.
• Perform root cause analysis for identified issues impacting (but not limited to) Operations, Users, System efficiencies.
• Identify type of fraud, trends and create rules that support Fraud Prevention and Mitigation.
• Initiate and drive projects (with Internal and External teams) to improve Departmental and Team metrics.
• Create timely reports and provide data analysis and trends.
• Be an escalated point of contact to investigate and resolve technical issues, disputes, fraud, marketplace quality and abuse cases
• Own and have knowledge of all user-facing Carousell matters related to the local market, so as to be the point of contact among teammates and local authorities where needed
• Represent Carousell to attend workshops initiated by the local regulatory bodies, operationalise insights and ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations
• Handle chargeback disputes, using knowledge in credit card policies, creating dispute documentation, and reaching out to both the bank and the merchant/buyer
• Identify opportunities in existing Policies & Procedures and Workflows, and implement solution (in all governing workflows of Marketplace Quality and Trust & Safety). Create new workflows as deemed necessary.
• Work directly with the Operations and Shared Services team to support agents(Tier 2 to Tier 5)  in delivering quality and efficient service to our users . 
• To assist with chinese translation needs e.g FAQs for Help Centre, ticket templates
• Be able to perform service recovery
• Respond to trust-related escalation from different channels in the organization (Eg. Slack).

As a Supervisor, you will play a key part in looking after the team, ensuring that our monthly and other reporting deadlines are met. This also involve completing the detailed month end postings, preparation of accounting schedules, performing bank reconciliations and so forth. This individual would be expected to be involved in the year end audit process, alongside assisting with the other reporting requirements which we have.

We are looking for someone with a hands-on and can-do attitude. This will be key with ensuring that we can make the finance team fit for the future. The projects and ad-hoc work which the team have exposure to is significant and varied.

Key responsibilities:

• End to end month-end accounts closing and preparation of monthly management reports complete with supporting notes and schedules;
• Management of the year end audit process including preparation of financial statements in accordance to FRS, provision of workings, schedules and supporting documents on request;
• Payment processing and assist with cash flow reporting;
• Reconciliation of GST transactions and balances, if required and completion of return for quarterly filing;
• Preparation and update the Corporate Tax computation monthly and attending to queries and requests from the Tax Agent;
• Provision of proactive and insightful financial support to managers, Head of Finance;
• Completion of any other relevant regulatory returns;
• Driving process improvement and efficiencies across all of the finance activities;
• Liaising with various stakeholders both internally and externally;
• Managing and mentoring the staff accountants based in Manila;
• Taking the lead of various projects work as and when required and any other ad-hoc assignments.

The Loan Officer is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with borrowers and providing quality customer service, acting as the principal account manager for new and existing customers.
