Business Opportunity:
The Philippines is the second largest population size in Southeast Asia, behind only Indonesia. In 2019, Waze named Manila the world’s worst city for traffic. On average, it takes a car almost five minutes to travel one kilometer in the city. This is where Angkas comes in. Unlike cars, motorcycles can cut through traffic, making them an ideal alternative transport for traffic-congested cities. The strong product-market fit for motorcycle taxis has led to the phenomenal growth and popularity of Angkas.
But more than just providing an alternative transport, Angkas is driven by an ambitious goal. We want to help end poverty in the Philippines by providing a sustainable livelihood to 18 million motorcycle bikers. Core Responsibilities
- Lead all Mobile Engineering architecture design and implementation across our Apps in Flutter (Primary framework), iOS and Android (Legacy Apps).
- Experiment with new mobile frameworks and architectures to make our Apps more reliable and optimized.
- Maintain and enhance the testing automation framework and CICD, create a strong collaboration relationship with key engineering stakeholders such as QA team, DevOps and backend team.
- Walk the talk: in this role you have to code and lead the way with your example, but you also need to be hands off and speak a non-technical language to partner with other departments.
- Participating in brainstorming and refining features requirements with product Managers, Business Analysts and other stakeholders.
- Responsible for the delivery performance of your Mobile team, which might have a mix of in-house and augmented Mobile engineers.
- Lead and mentor every team member in your Mobile team.
- Help build and contribute to a high-performance mobile engineering culture.
Required Skills and experience
- BS/BA in computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years experience with Flutter (Excluding requirement)
- 8+ years experience with Mobile Engineering Technologies (iOS/Android).
- 2+ years of technical leadership experience.
- A team oriented personality, bias to action, excellent communication skills.
- Must have experience leading a team and is something he/she likes
- Previous startup experience strongly preferred
