MANAGEMENT

Position Summary:

We are looking for a new Financial Accountant to join our team. The role will be incredibly varied, from taking ownership of the month-end close (and associated reporting) from start to finish, to assisting with several different projects and helping the team to become fit for the future. This individual will be expected to demonstrate strong technical knowledge and be adaptable and proactive in their work approach to assist with the wider projects and deliverables of the team.

As a financial accountant, you will play a key part in ensuring that our monthly and other reporting deadlines are met. This will involve completing the detailed month-end postings, balance sheet recs, bank recs, and so forth. The Reinsurance Accountant will assume primary responsibility for all aspects of accounting for assigned reinsurance contracts.

Overview: 

The Senior Accountant prepares, and processes assigned journal entries in a timely accurate manner throughout the month.  Journal entries include, standard recurring, accruals (payroll, bonus, utilities, open PO’s, etc.), prepaids and amortization, and nonstandard or one-time journal entries. The month-end duties include completing account reconciliations, variance analysis, identifying and resolving discrepancies, elevating items to proper channels for resolution.  This person will assist with daily activities involving working capital including AR, AP, and Inventory.  They will participate in various other accounting activities as needed to support the finance/accounting functions.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Completion of monthly journal entries for specific entities in accordance with US GAAP and to ensure month-end close is completed on schedule.

About the role:

The ideal candidate will have proficiency in QuickBooks Online Advance and a proven track record of managing accounting tasks efficiently. This role involves handling various accounting and bookkeeping responsibilities, including cost allocations and reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

• Perform month end closing activities such as
  • Cash reconciliation with Treasury team

What you will be doing:

Reporting

•  Assist Director of Finance with in the preparation of all reporting requirements regardless of reporting frequency including daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual and ad-hoc.
• Ensure information presented in all reports is accurate and reflective of actual business transactions.
• Ensure all reports are prepared on a timely basis, meeting all deadlines set by Statutory Bodies, Owning Company and Brand Manager.

Controls

• Conduct surprise spot-checks on General Cashier’s float on a periodic basis.
• Conduct surprise spot-checks on all Outlet Cashier’s float on a periodic basis in addition to spot-check performed by the General Cashier.
• Conduct surprise stock-count inspection in addition to/ during the month-end stock-count conducted by the Cost Controller’s office.

Audit, Taxation and Statutory Bodies (where applicable)

• Assist in the preparation of all groundwork required for all statutory audit and tax requirements.
• Provide assistance during the audit (internal and external) review process.
• Administer all tax filing and government reporting procedures to ensure accurate, timely information is provided in compliance with laws and regulations.

Budget & Forecast

• Assist the Financial Controller in the preparation of the annual budgets and monthly forecasts as required.

Sectional Duties

• Supervises Revenue Audit section:
• Ensures all revenue and receipt transactions are properly accounted for and deposited into banks.
• Reviews summaries, reports and journals prepared by Revenue Auditor and Night Auditor.
• Checks Daily Hotel Revenue Report.
• Supervises Accounts Payable section:
• Oversees timely arrangements of payments by cheques, bank auto pays & remittances.
• Ensures payments are properly supported & authorized.
• Reviews cheque register, vendor listing, creditors log and reports.

Supervises Payroll section:

• Checks if monthly payroll is properly supported authorized and reconciled.
• Ensures personnel data are correctly recorded in payroll record.
• Oversees the submissions of employers’ tax returns required by statutes.
• Reviews schedules of lease and sub-lease agreements.
• Monitoring the billing of lease charges and collection of sub-rentals.
• Reports and follows up discrepancies and irregularities.
• Reviews monthly capital expenditure reports.
• Reports to DOF on any deviations from policies.
• Ensures capital expenditure reports completed in accordance with set schedule.

and variable expenses to budgets and bank deposits. He/she is expected to work with huge
amounts of numerical data, manage multiple tasks with deadlines, and provide complete reports
to the management. He/she must have a good grip on accounting, financial regulations, strong
computer skills, and written communication skills.

Authorities & Responsibilities:
1. MANAGEMENT
 Develops, maintains and implements accounting policies, systems, procedures and controls, as
aligned in the achievement of the Company’s Vision, Mission and Goals.
 Develops and installs effective accounting systems and controls to ensure financial accountability and
reliability of accounting data.
 Oversees the performance of accounting personnel. Assists Bookkeepers and Accounting personnel
for whatever verification and query pertaining to accounting entries, procedures and policies.
2. INTERNAL CONTROL AND COMPLIANCE
 Ensures that all accounting entries conform to the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
 Responsible for the strict implementation and monitoring of Internal Control Measures of Accounting
Unit.
 Maintains the integrity of data by applying controls such as regular reconciliations and variance
analysis.
 Reviews accounting documents to ensure accuracy of information and calculations and makes/directs
correcting entries.
 Counterchecks all purchases, withdrawals, replenishments, cash advances and liquidations before
approval of the VP Finance and Admin.
 Monitors compliance with established financial standards, requirements and regulations imposed by
government agencies.
3. FINANCIAL RECORDING, REPORTING AND MONITORING
 Oversees and ensures accurate and timely submission of accounting and financial reports and
necessary schedules to Top Management.
 Oversees and ensures accurate and timely recording of financial transactions and preparations of
accounting and financial reports and necessary schedules.
 Monitors and controls Accounts Payables and Accounts Receivables and ensures the preparation of
accurate and updated subsidiary ledgers.
 Monitors and ensures monthly preparation of bank reconciliations.
 Prepares monthly consolidated financial statement.
 Submits on time financial reports to Top Management and provides accurate financial analysis for
decision-making.
 Monitors and checks the conduct of inventory of fixed assets.
 Performs other functions as may be assigned by his/her immediate superior from time to time.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR ROLE

The Accountant will handle, prepare, compute, manage, research, and analyze all accounting data, in order to provide quantitative information on performance, financial position, solvency, liquidity, and cash flows of small- to medium-sized Australian businesses.

Your day could see you:

• Perform month-end closing activities such as account reconciliation, revenue accounting, expense accounting, etc.

• Prepare ad hoc reports required for team meetings or as requested by management and customers

• Prepare and submit financial reports in a timely and accurate manner

• Review all financial reports to ensure accuracy and completeness

• Reconcile daily bank transactions

• Process approved sales invoices

• Process supplier invoices received from email and prepare a summary of the weekly listing of invoices for payment. Ensure all suppliers’ invoices have been approved

• Prepares purchase order as requested by the client

• Record month-end accruals, prepayments, and other journal entries

• Checks monthly end accruals, prepayments, and other journal entries

• Checks monthly credit card statements and AU expense reports

• Update weekly reports such as cash flow, KPI tracker, and cash position statement

• Preparation and lodgment of Activity Statements

• Process payroll and payroll-related tasks which include leave management, superannuation lodgment, WorkCover lodgment, STP Filing, and payroll tax lodgment (as required)

• Perform balance sheet accounts validation

• Prepare income tax returns for individuals, trusts and companies

A BIT ABOUT YOU

• Has working experience in GA process

• Preferably knowledgeable in AR and AP process

• Must be a CPA

• Preferably knowledgeable in XERO Accounting System

• At least 1-3 years of working experience in the accounting field

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

• Meticulous & very high attention to detail
