The Compliance Officer will play a vital role in ensuring that First Circle operates in full compliance with regulatory requirements while fostering a strong culture of accountability and integrity. Reporting to the General Counsel, the Compliance Officer will oversee compliance frameworks, ensure adherence to legal and regulatory mandates, and drive initiatives related to regulatory reporting, AML compliance, and data privacy.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance:

• Collaborate with the General Counsel to monitor, assess, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and reportorial requirements.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, including but not limited to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the National Privacy Commission (NPC), the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC), and other relevant government entities.
• Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Ensure timely and accurate submission of all regulatory compliance reports to relevant authorities and external partners.

SEC Compliance:

• Oversee compliance with all SEC regulatory and reportorial requirements applicable to financing companies.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for SEC-related matters, audits, and inquiries.

AML Compliance:

• Develop, document, and update the company’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) policies and procedures to align with relevant laws and regulations.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with AML/CTF requirements, including risk assessments and reporting.
• Provide AML training to employees to ensure awareness and adherence to policies.

Data Privacy Compliance:

• Collaborate with the Data Protection Officer (DPO) to implement and manage the company’s Data Protection and Privacy Program.
• Assist in developing and maintaining data privacy policies and procedures.
• Monitor operational compliance with data privacy laws and investigate potential incidents or breaches

Experience:

2-4 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or a related field, ideally within the fintech or financial services industry.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and frameworks, including SEC, AML, and data privacy laws.
• Proven ability to navigate complex compliance landscapes while supporting business agility.
• Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with a proactive, self-starter approach.
• Outstanding communication skills to collaborate across teams and engage with external stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a commitment to accuracy and detail.
• Collaborative mindset, capable of working closely with legal, operations, and business teams.

We’re looking for a Wise Philippines Compliance Officer to strengthen our compliance team. Based in Manila, Philippines. you will work with a growing team of multidisciplinary specialists globally (Product, Treasury, Expansion, Engineers) to help build world-class products in the Philippines. You’ll also manage and strengthen the teams’ relationships with regulators by being the regulator’s point of contact, keeping everybody informed and protecting our most valuable asset – our customers.

Your mission:

• Building and continuously improving the compliance program in line with our mission to be instant, convenient, transparent and eventually free.
• Maintain our regulatory licence for the Philippines: (i) regulatory reporting and filing, (ii) regulatory liaison and (iii) leading our audits.
• Build trust with our regulator: manage and coordinate meaningful reporting internally and externally, respond to information requests, and proactively communicate product changes and notifiable events. 
• Help Develop systems / processes to track and monitor our regulatory risk, compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Work with teams within Wise to educate them about Philippines regulatory requirements, and empower teams to build risk based processes which are clearly documented. 
• Scrutinise and test compliance programs, including quality assurance, analyse findings and work with Operational teams to develop our risk based approach, provide constructive feedback and be responsible for resolutions, including addressing any audit findings.
• Adapt your focus on different compliance issues depending on growth plans and compliance needs.
• Work with global Product and Operational teams and travel to our operational offices.

• Develop an in-depth knowledge of Wise’s business and get to know many teams across the company as you liaise with them to help them understand the regulatory framework and bring together the information that our regulators need.

• Working on client onboarding and reviewing and updating all necessary documentation as required.
• Reviewing and monitoring all KYC and CDD for new client onboarding files.
• Ongoing review of KYC and CDD files for existing clients.
• Coordinating frequent AML training and keeping abreast of all changes and updates to legislations.
• Ongoing review and revision of relevant policies and procedures.
• Conducting frequent risk analysis and providing detailed reports to senior management.

Prior experience working in an AML/Compliance focused role.

Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline.

Prior experience having been involved in a regulatory inspection.

A compliance focused qualification or the desire to undertake further studies. (ACAMS or ICA)
