About the Role (Your Why)  

The Workforce Optimization team is responsible for several outsourced projects and services for some of our biggest clients in Datacom. The Workforce Planning Manager is responsible for analyzing, forecasting, and planning workforce supply and demand, as well as talent needs and gaps, to ensure that an organization has the right people with the right skills to support its business objectives.

What you’ll do   

The Workforce Planning Manager is responsible for (but not limited to):

• Analysing, implementing, and monitoring workforce planning initiatives to optimise and scale the evolving workforce and long-range plans.
• Collaborating with business leaders, strategic planning, HR, Finance, and other stakeholders across the company to review existing and future workforce needs and to ensure alignment with business objectives and financial goals.
• Collecting, interpreting, and evaluating workforce metrics to provide data-driven insights for internal and external talent pool assessments, headcount reviews, forecasting and business scenario planning, reviewing processes, and monitoring plan effectiveness.
• Lead the development, execution, and communication of the company’s workforce planning roadmap to optimize and scale an evolving global workforce and to create strategic long-range plans.
• Oversee workforce planning initiatives, including headcount metrics analysis, internal and external talent assessments, forecasting, plan roll-out, processes, and controls.
• Selecting, developing, and evaluating personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

What you’ll bring  

• Extensive experience with workforce planning and scheduling in a large complex organisation – Ideally within a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) environment
• Strong understanding of business requirements with an appreciation of business strategy, forecasting and workforce behaviour
• Ability to work on moderately complex assignments, requiring judgment in resolving issues and making recommendations.
• Assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.
• Ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders and team members across different business units
• Blend of commercial, technical, and consulting skills.

What you'll do

• Assisting customers with the activation and setup of their product and services
• Validation of the customer’s entitlement for support (e.g. a client’s customer, account is current, level of support service entitlement)
• Logging all customer incidents upon receipt into the approved case management system;
• Providing support to customers by:
• Providing a timely and clear indication of the nature of the incident,
• Communicating what steps will be taken to attempt to resolve the incident,
• Setting the customer’s expectation on what the estimated time to resolve the issue is,
• Providing any potential short-term alternatives or workarounds to the customer,
• Making reasonable efforts to ensure the customers understand the information they have been provided;
• Resolving customer incidents wherever possible; and
• Escalating customer incidents to Tier 2, where not able to be resolved by Tier 1

What you'll bring

• 4-year technical degree or equivalent work experience
• 1-3 years’ experience in technical support or MIS in an Enterprise environment
• Ability to properly use all Microsoft tools including MSSolve, Knowledge Base, Order Entry, Internet and Intranet Resources
• Prior knowledge in at least one of the following disciplines is required: network operations, networking protocols, network authentication, messaging technology or messaging protocols, or other technical skill strengths with an online service or network communications
• Competencies before handling first interaction/call (verified by Vendor after New Hire Training)
• Ability to search and understand KB articles to troubleshoot customer issues
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating Systems (Windows 7 onwards)
• Minimum working knowledge of Microsoft® Windows NT® Server and Windows 2008 Server R2

Role Overview

The General Manager – Software Engineering role will oversee the development and implementation of strategy and business plans for one or more functional areas in line with the broader Datacom direction. This role will involve managing daily business activities, including.

working alongside colleagues for sales and customer success, as well as designing and implementing strategies to improve overall business functions.

Role Responsibilities

The General Manager –Software Engineering is responsible for (but not limited to):

• Owning the development and implementation of strategy for one or more functional areas, in line with broader Datacom strategy.
• Collaborating with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives. Planning, personnel, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods.
• Involved in development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and strategy.
• Directing and controlling the activities of own area of business, sometimes through managers within the team.
• Supporting Sales, Presales and Technical teams across Datacom ensuring an aligned go[1]to-market approach focused on growth and mutual benefit between Datacom and our customers.
• Managing the relationships with (and between) external agencies and suppliers, ensuring contracts and service levels are negotiated in line with strategic aims and financial constraints and ongoing service is in-line with agreed contracts.
• Making final decisions on administrative or operational matters, ensuring effective achievement of operational objectives.
• Ensuring budgets and schedules meet requirements.
• Interactions frequently involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the business.
• Responsible for implementing a principle driven health and safety culture that cares for employees and ensures their safety in line with Datacom policy.
• Takes reasonable care that their actions (or inactions) do not harm the Health and Safety of self or others. Reports all incidents, hazards, or unsafe work practices as per Datacom policy.

Experience

• 10+ years of senior commercial or sales experience within a complex and multi- faceted management services environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing service delivery teams within an outsourcing arrangement.
• Finance management, including cost estimation and budget tracking and reporting.
