We are looking for a highly driven and motivated Director of Public Affairs & Public Relations to join our team in the Philippines (based out of Manila), overseeing a key advocacy and reputation management function. Well-versed in stakeholder engagement and possessing a strong network of external stakeholders including but not limited to the government, media, academia, and business sectors, this individual will play a crucial role in shaping the operating environment for foodpanda in the Philippines.  

Public Affairs/Government Relations

• Lead foodpanda’s public policy strategies and advocacy efforts to address public policy challenges and meet business objectives. Topics include the gig economy, labour rights, competition, consumer protection, data protection/fraud, sustainability, and more. 
• Maintain and expand foodpanda’s network of stakeholders across the Central and local governments/government units; international and regional organisations; academia; non-profit/non-government sectors; industry; and the media.
• Engage with above mentioned stakeholders to achieve policy advocacy goals, support business objectives and boost reputation. This includes the creation of supporting collaterals in collaboration with various internal stakeholders.
• Establish and drive partnerships with external stakeholders, collaborating across functions to advance foodpanda's business, reputational and public affairs objectives.
• Provide crisis management counsel, and lead issue management and responses in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

Public Relations

• Lead foodpanda’s public relations strategy and uphold positive brand reputation across all stakeholder groups.
• Build relationships with key tier 1 media (broadcast, tech, lifestyle and trade) to ensure a consistent narrative is being communicated externally. 
• Lead proactive storytelling, media pitches and campaigns to secure positive media placements focusing on foodpanda’s mission.
• Oversee and manage agencies to ensure alignment with business goals, while monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of communication strategies, adjusting as needed.

• Acting as a business partner providing business solutions through expertise to all other business functions ensuring compliance to any legal and regulations. 
• Leading a team of legal, compliance and government affairs professionals 
• Collaborate with Regional and Global legal team members of Delivery Hero ensuring alignment with over-all Group’s Legal and compliance standards.
• Developing legal frameworks and processes that champion legal and regulatory compliance
• Provide advice on various topics regarding law and regulation.
• Provide legal advice on various topics such as general corporate law, foreign business law, consumer protection law and labor law.
• Develop and own legal strategy that aligns to foodpanda’s strategic objectives in alignment with Regional and Central legal teams.
• Regulatory Compliance and Governance: Develop, maintain and implement the Country compliance, including formulating compliance policies and procedures, regulatory documentations, and maintaining compliance registers
• Work closely with the internal team to ensure enhancements in compliance processes are adhered to and play a driving role to implement system changes.
• Assist in conducting compliance risk assessments and develop plans to address regulatory gaps and drive remediation efforts and ensure implementation of proposed resolutions and actions.
• Create a compliance culture and awareness in the operations, and provide compliance training and education to staff on a periodic basis
• Support Government Affairs: Support in Developing public policy strategies and positions for including the creation of materials supporting advocacy on those positions in collaboration with the local and regional team.
• Support in identifying, assessing, and addressing regulatory challenges to business objectives in key regulated industries as well as the public sector market in partnership with and public policy colleagues.

• Assisting in the creation and conceptualization of various forms of communications plans
• Assisting the Communications and Media Relations Specialist in conducting research on recent news and stories related to the company, competitors and the industry
• Help manage content on social media, particularly online communities that are related to foodpanda and other channels
• Monitoring corporate PR issues (national and local issue), including flagging potential issues brewing in the industry
• Provide support in building micro-influencer database from Facebook groups, TikTok, YouTube and other social content platforms
• Assisting team members in projects, reports, events, and initiatives as needed

Reporting to the Head of Communications and Public Affairs, the successful candidate will play a key role in developing and implementing foodpanda’s public policy strategy and programs to optimize the business and operating environment. Working collaboratively with various business functions in foodpanda, the successful candidate will be a key contributor in maintaining the company’s good reputation and standing among the communities in which we operate.

• Help develop foodpanda’s internal public policy strategy and programmes on topics relating to the tech and food delivery sector, including but not limited to employment, gig work, sustainability, competition, as well as consumer & data protection
•  Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to implement foodpanda’s policy stance and programs
• Help build foodpanda’s stakeholder network within the public sector, academia, professional associations, NGOs, and more, both at the central and local levels (travel to provinces, regional company offices, and other key locations are required)
• Communicate and advocate for foodpanda’s policy positions by (a) drafting position papers on proposed legislation, (b) responding to concerns from government stakeholders, (c) developing policy communications materials in consultation with key internal stakeholders such as PR/communications, legal and operations; and (d) where needed, represent foodpanda at government meetings/Congressional hearings
• Contribute to foodpanda’s efforts in uplifting riders, vendors, and our communities through relevant initiatives
• Identify and pursue partnerships with government agencies, key opinion leaders, or credible organizations to build thought leadership
• Drive the implementation of these initiatives and programmes, and track and review the effectiveness of the same

The Media Relations Manager plays a key role in strengthening the company’s brand and reputation by maintaining good relationships with the media, communicating key company messages through traditional and new media platforms, and helping to manage PR issues as needed. This person will be responsible for:

• Building, growing and maintaining a robust media network
• Bridging the relationship between foodpanda and the media and creating a positive brand image
• PItching stories to the press and generating coverage
• Organizing press conferences, interviews and other media engagements
• Preparing detailed reports on media coverage, SOV and sentiment
• Handling critical issues with the media if/when they arise
