Job requirements

As a Junior Accounting Assistant,

You will be responsible for assisting with various accounting tasks and financial record-keeping. You will work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a basic understanding of accounting principles.

Some of the things we’d expect you to do are to…

• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Prepare and process invoices, expense reports, purchase orders, and Cost of Goods & Services (COGS).
• Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

As Accounts Payable Support,

You will be providing financial, administrative and clerical support to the organisation. Your role is to complete payments and control expenses by receiving payments, plus processing, verifying and reconciling invoices. You will also highlight the day-to-day management of all payment cycle activities in a timely and efficient manner.

Some of the things we’d expect you to do are to…

• Take phone calls from suppliers.
• Prepare AP reports from Pronto.
• Prepare weekly payment forecast.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to prioritise payments.
• Prepare ABA files for weekly pay runs.
• Reconcile supplier statements with their accounts on a weekly/monthly basis.
• Ensure all AP invoices are loaded into Redmap for approval.
• Ensure all AP invoices are coded appropriately in Redmap before posting to Pronto.

As an Accountant Assistant,

you will play a key role in supporting our client’s finance department in various tasks related to financial record-keeping and reporting. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong aptitude for numbers and a passion for contributing to the success of a dynamic organization.

Some of the things we expect you to do are to:

• Financial reporting – month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, sub-ledger reconciliations, journal preparation, entry of payables and receivables, and bank reconciliations. 
• Payroll – assist in the preparation of fortnightly and monthly payroll 5% 
• Asset Management – assist the Financial Controller in maintaining the entities asset register as required, as well as maintenance of the vehicle register
• Day-to-day accounting and administration functions
• Invoicing of sponsors and Academy players 

We would need you to be or have the following:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA is a huge plus but not essential
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a fast-paced retail environment
• Strong understanding of financial reporting standards
• Proficiency in accounting software (Xero) and Microsoft Excel (Advance); experience with other ERP systems is a plus
• Experience with payroll processing software and knowledge of (Australian) payroll regulations and compliance
• Excellent analytical skills with keen attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and cross borders teams
• Highly organized and proactive, demonstrating a strong work ethic and a willingness to take initiative to streamline processes
