About the team

Provide database support services to application teams and Operations teams including the Network Operations Center. The Database Competence Center is covering all DBA technologies. We are responsible for the 24 x 7 operations for major regional and global banks.

Your key tasks 

• Create and maintain all databases required for development, testing, education and production usage on different Unix and Linux platforms
• Perform the capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases.
• Perform ongoing tuning of the database instances.

• Maintain backup and recovery process, including disaster recovery performance and tuning of database and application.

• Experience in performing and managing database copy.

• Knowledge of database backup and retention schedules and policies.

• Experience in copying database and storing it at the destination.

• Able to perform database recovery.

• Able to coordinate with support team for DB drive expansion and data reclamation.

• Support quarterly and yearly Disaster Recovery activities for database as part of regulatory compliance.

• Able to handle the DB patching on large scale servers, able to analyze and provide enhancement in patching process.

• Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing end-to-end problem resolution.

• Set up and optimize high-availability and clustering solutions. Hand on experience on SQL Always ON with Log shipping.

• Good understanding of the delivery of SQL in Azure, particularly SQL Managed Instances

• Good understanding of T-SQL programming

• Capacity planning and monitoring database growth.

• Able to perform point in time recovery.

• Deploy, configure and manage on premises databases and cloud based database service like AWS and Azure.

• Stay updated with latest trends and advancement in on premises and cloud DB technologies and contribute to improving database practices within the organization.

• Knowledge on Vertitas Netbackup, Service Now would be an added advantage.

• Experience in project management methodologies is desired including ability to estimate, plan, manage and communicate activities/deliverables of a mid-size project plan, i.e., a plan that affects a single system or product family and uses multiple resources

• Working knowledge of at least one database management system or a proven ability to learn new technologies and use that knowledge effectively

• Effective communication and team skills with an ability to cooperate, present to and participate with peers/team members
