The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for carrying out the daily purchasing processes for Abbott Rapid Dx North America or Abbott Rapid Dx , LLC, ensuring the timely and efficient procurement of company materials and services. The purchasing team is key to ensuring continued supply of our products, relationship management with our vendors and that all processes and objectives are implemented efficiently and timely and support the overall GBS vision.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Advance perform the daily purchasing processes for stocked items (with an MRP evaluation as needed), nonstocked items, capital equipment and services

• Review and maintain purchasing contingencies to ensure continued supply of product

• Ensure contractual obligations are implemented, maintained and compliant

• Participate in daily team meetings to address open tasks, issues and projects and ensure actions are being taken to ensure KPIs are met

• Maintenance of the shared purchasing mailbox, shared web portal for communicating with off-site warehouses.

• Manages incoming urgent requests, work with warehouse, sales, marketing, transport, Masterdata, planning, finance and customer service.

• Establish and maintain strong relationships and work effectively with internal and external customers

• Contribute to the Customer Experience ensuring delivery of acceptable quality goods and services on-time

• Resolve disputes or complaints between requestors and vendors

• Represent Purchasing in all product launch initiatives

• Record and manage actions in relation to supplier incidents

• Participate in quarterly supplier reviews and ensure corrective actions are implemented

• Participate in Projects in the area of the responsibility such as process improvement and implementation

• Produce daily and monthly reports/metrics

• Comply with applicable antitrust and other purchasing-related laws and regulations including Federal Acquisition Regulations for government contracts.

JOB SUMMARY

Primary responsibility will involve 1) preparing and filing sales and use tax returns for over 130 registered state and local jurisdictions in the United States, 2) preparing and filing Canada’s GST / HST / QST monthly returns, and 3) compiling gross receipt and corresponding tax data for Australia and Japan to be sent to local accountants for reporting purposes.  Participate in the exempt certificate project, as necessary.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Responsible for preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns for US jurisdictions where Avid is registered.  Perform monthly reconciliations by comparing monthly SAP reports and Sovos reports. Ensure timely monthly return submissions and payment reconciliations.   Prepare and file Canada’s GST / HST / QST computations and filings.  Reconcile the GL accounts to Sovos and returns filed.  Compile Australia’s GST detail to create a workbook that is sent to an Australian tax accountant who files the monthly return.  A payment request is generated and once approved sent to AP to wire the funds to the Australian Tax Office. Pull together Japan’s current month’s detail to determines if the monthly return will be filed on actual transactions or on the prior year tax amount.  This report is sent to accountants in Japan to file.  A payment request is created and sent to AP to wire the monthly interim tax payment to the Japan Tax Agent so they can forward the funds to the Japan Government.  Support the Order Management team by providing tax guidance on orders being processed.  Work closely with Order Management as orders are created to determine if tax exempt certificates are required along with tax calculations. Assist in the clean-up and collection of customers’ tax-exempt certificates.  This project will entail reaching out to over 9,000 customers to obtain their updated tax-exempt certificates.  The certificates will then need to be uploaded into Sovos to migrate over to Avalara.   

WHO YOU ARE:

• Proficiency in SAP preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for all areas of Customer order fulfillment, including order processing, open order management, order reporting, service issues and resolution
• Manage and process all inquiries and orders from all receipt methods

• Investigate and process Credits & Return Goods Authorizations and Debits

• Responsible for executing applicable Quality Management System (QMS) processes, monitoring the success of service provided, and delivering an excellent customer experience.
